Pectinophora Gossypiella Pheromone (Pink Worm)

The most well-studied class of pheromones is the sex pheromones, which find scope in the control and monitoring of lepidopteran populations. These artificially produced substances mimic the natural sex hormone that the female produces in order to attract the male and achieve mating. Taking advantage of this process we can have valid and timely indications of lepidopteran populations, as a result of which we can apply more effective spraying programs.

Pink bollworm of cotton: Affected flowers either drop or show the characteristic “rosette” symptom (fail to open and grow misshapen).
